Mathura Vrindavan Holi Tour Package
Complete Holi celebration in Mathura and Vrindavan with temple darshan, colour celebration and evening aarti.
Experience the world-famous Braj Holi with safe routing, expert temple timing and private cab support from Delhi, Agra and Mathura.
Holi in Braj is not just a festival — it is a ten-day celebration of colour, devotion and divine energy that transforms the entire region of Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana and Nandgaon into a living canvas of joy. Our Holi tour packages are designed specifically for this festival season so that you arrive at the right place on the right day, with a private vehicle ready, safe routing through the crowds and a driver who knows exactly which lanes to avoid and which temple gates open when.
The Mathura Vrindavan Holi Tour is our most booked festival package — it covers the colour celebrations at Dwarkadhish Mandir in Mathura, the flower Holi at Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan and the evening aarti that takes on a completely different energy during Holi week. If you have never attended the phoolon wali Holi at Banke Bihari — where thousands of petals rain down on devotees — it is an experience that stays with you for a lifetime.
The Barsana Holi Tour is built around the famous Lathmar Holi — a tradition unique to Barsana where women from Radharani's village playfully beat men from Nandgaon with long decorated sticks while the men try to shield themselves with shields. This event draws tens of thousands of visitors every year and takes place a full week before the national Holi date — which means without proper guidance on exact dates and routes, most visitors either miss it entirely or end up stuck in traffic far from the venue.
The Braj Holi Festival Tour covers the complete circuit — Barsana on day one, Nandgaon the following morning, Mathura's Dwarkadhish gulal celebration, and Vrindavan's temple Holi in the evening — all in a planned two-day sequence with overnight stay assistance, safe crowd navigation and full private vehicle support. This is the package for those who want the complete, authentic Braj Holi experience without missing a single event.
All Holi packages include transparent pricing, no hidden charges, advance date-wise event guidance and direct driver contact before your trip. We strongly recommend booking at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance during Holi season as vehicles and accommodations near Barsana and Vrindavan fill up extremely quickly once Holi dates are announced.

Grand Braj Holi tour covering Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana and Nandgaon across two days with full festival coverage.
Most people celebrate Holi for a few hours on a single day. In Braj, Holi is a ten-day living festival that begins in Barsana, moves to Nandgaon, spreads across Mathura's ghats and temples, fills Vrindavan's narrow lanes with colour and flower petals, and culminates in the grand Dol Yatra at Dauji temple in Baldeo. Every single day of this celebration has its own venue, its own tradition and its own crowd — and knowing which day to be where is the entire difference between a memorable Braj Holi and a missed opportunity.
The Lathmar Holi of Barsana — where women from Radharani's village playfully beat men from Nandgaon with long decorated lathis — is the most photographed and most talked-about event of the entire Braj Holi season. It takes place six to seven days before the national Holi date and draws crowds from across India and overseas. The Radha Rani temple atop Barsana hill is decorated with marigold garlands, the air fills with gulal and the narrow stone steps leading up to the temple become a river of colour and devotion.
The next morning, Nandgaon holds its own Lathmar Holi — the reverse event where the men of Barsana visit Krishna's village and the women of Nandgaon respond in kind. The Nandgaon Holi is slightly less crowded than Barsana but equally vibrant, with the Nand Baba temple compound filling with devotional singing, drum beats and cascades of colour from the upper balconies onto the courtyard below.
Vrindavan's Holi runs across several different days and several different formats. The phoolon wali Holi at Banke Bihari — where the temple priests shower the entire congregation with flower petals instead of chemical colours — is one of the most spiritually moving experiences of the entire festival. ISKCON Vrindavan holds its own vibrant Holi celebration with kirtan, mridanga and an international gathering of devotees. Prem Mandir lights up at night with coloured spotlights that make the entire white marble structure glow in festival hues.
In Mathura, the Dwarkadhish Mandir celebrates Holi with a traditional Rang Panchami ceremony where the priests throw coloured water and gulal from the temple balconies onto the waiting crowd below. The Vishram Ghat on the Yamuna takes on a quiet, golden atmosphere in the evenings during Holi week — with lamps floating on the river and the sound of devotional music drifting across the water. These quieter moments of the festival, away from the famous colour-throwing events, are what make a Braj Holi trip truly complete.
Holi originated in Braj — it is the land where Krishna himself played with colours and began this tradition with Radha and the gopis of Vrindavan.
Unlike anywhere else in India, Braj celebrates Holi for a full ten days across Barsana, Nandgaon, Mathura, Vrindavan and Dauji with unique traditions each day.
Our festival packages include crowd-safe routing, experienced drivers familiar with festival roads and timing guidance so you are always at the right place at the right time.
No shared buses, no strangers — your own private vehicle with a driver who waits for you at every stop and takes you back safely after the celebrations.
One of the most common mistakes visitors make when planning a Braj Holi trip is assuming that Holi is a single day event and booking travel only for the national Holi date. In reality, the Braj Holi calendar spreads across ten days and the most famous events — Barsana Lathmar Holi and Nandgaon Holi — happen nearly a week before the date most people think of as Holi. Here is how the Braj Holi season unfolds so you can plan your visit correctly.
Day 1 — Barsana Lathmar Holi: The season officially opens with Lathmar Holi at Barsana. Men from Nandgaon arrive at Barsana as the legendary Holi companions of Krishna visiting Radharani's village. The women of Barsana receive them with decorated lathis and showers of gulal. The Radha Rani temple compound fills with thousands of devotees from morning onwards. This is the single most crowded and most photographed event of the season — arrive early.
Day 2 — Nandgaon Lathmar Holi: The following morning, the celebration shifts to Nandgaon — Krishna's home village. The women of Barsana now visit Nandgaon and the roles are reversed. The Nand Baba temple opens for early darshan and the courtyard fills with colour, devotional singing and dhol beats by mid-morning. Slightly less crowded than Barsana, this event gives a more intimate experience of the Lathmar tradition.
Day 3 to Day 5 — Vrindavan Holi: Vrindavan celebrates across multiple days with different events at different temples. The phoolon wali Holi at Banke Bihari, the widow Holi at Gopinath temple, the ISKCON Holi with international kirtan and the Rang Bihariji festival at Radha Damodar temple all happen on different days within this window. If you are staying in Vrindavan for multiple nights during Holi week, you can attend all of these at a relaxed pace.
Day 6 — Mathura Holi at Dwarkadhish: The famous Rang Panchami ceremony at Dwarkadhish Mandir in Mathura is held on this day — temple priests throw coloured water and gulal from the upper balconies onto the congregation below. The old city lanes around the temple fill with colour sellers, sweet shops and pilgrims in festive mood. Vishram Ghat holds a lamp-lit evening ceremony after sunset.
Day 7 — Govardhan and Baldeo: The final major event of the Braj Holi calendar is the Dol Yatra at Dauji temple in Baldeo — a unique tradition where devotees throw a special preparation called huranga — diluted coloured water — in a celebration that marks the formal end of the Braj Holi season. Govardhan also holds quiet temple celebrations on this day that are worth attending for the serene contrast to the high-energy events earlier in the week.
Travelling to Braj during Holi season is one of the most rewarding experiences you can plan — but it requires preparation that is very different from a regular pilgrimage trip. The roads around Barsana, Nandgaon and Vrindavan during Holi week carry ten to twenty times their normal traffic volume. Parking near the main venues is essentially unavailable on event days unless you arrive before sunrise. Knowing what to carry, what to wear, when to leave and which routes to take makes the entire difference between a joyful day and a frustrating one.
What to wear: Always wear old clothes you are comfortable ruining — even natural gulal can permanently stain fabric. Light cotton is ideal as it dries quickly if you get splashed with coloured water. Avoid synthetic or white clothing entirely. Carry a small waterproof bag for your phone, wallet and any medication. Sunglasses protect your eyes from dry gulal thrown in the air at close range — this is especially important at Barsana where the crowds are densest.
What to carry: Keep your belongings minimal — a small backpack with water, a light snack, a spare shirt, sunscreen and your phone is all you need. Do not carry expensive cameras or jewellery into the main celebration areas. Most temples near the celebration venues have footwear storage counters that are well-managed during festival season. Keep some cash in a separate pocket from your main wallet as temple towns during festival season are entirely cash-based for all purchases.
Timing your arrival: For Barsana Lathmar Holi, the main event begins around 11 AM but crowds start building from 8 AM at the base of the hill. If you want a good position near the temple compound, plan to be at the Barsana parking area no later than 9 AM. Our drivers know exactly where to park and which path to take up the hill without joining the main crowd queue. For Vrindavan's Banke Bihari phoolon wali Holi, the temple opens early morning and the main flower shower happens between 10 AM and noon — after which the crowd thins and the temple allows individual darshan.
Safety and crowd management: Braj Holi crowds are joyful but extremely dense in certain pockets — particularly on the narrow stone steps of Barsana hill and the lanes near Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan. Travel as a group, keep children close and designate a meeting point at a visible landmark in case anyone gets separated. Our packages include a dedicated driver who stays with the vehicle at all times and is reachable by phone throughout the day — so you always have a safe exit point whenever you are ready to leave.
For senior citizens and families with young children, we recommend attending the Vrindavan temple Holi events rather than the Barsana Lathmar event — the former is spiritually rich, colourful and joyful without the physical intensity of the main Lathmar crowds. The evening aarti at Prem Mandir during Holi week is particularly beautiful — the marble structure is lit with coloured lights and the atmosphere is festive but calm, making it an ideal close to any Holi day in Braj.
Wear light cotton clothes you do not mind staining. Avoid white or synthetic fabric. Carry a spare shirt in your bag.
A small waterproof bag for phone and wallet is ideal. Avoid jewellery and expensive cameras in the main celebration areas.
For Barsana, aim to reach the parking area by 9 AM. Main events begin at 11 AM but prime spots fill up well before that.
Carry sunglasses — dry gulal thrown in dense crowds can irritate eyes, especially at Barsana and Nandgaon venues.
Holi celebrations run for several hours outdoors. Carry water and a light snack. Avoid drinking anything offered by unknown vendors.
Save your driver's number on your phone before leaving. Our drivers stay with the vehicle all day and are always reachable.
