The Radha Damodar Temple is one of the most historically and spiritually significant temples in all of Vrindavan. Established in 1542 CE by Jiva Goswami — one of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan and a disciple of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu — the temple complex houses the samadhis (memorial shrines) of several Goswamis including Jiva Goswami and Rupa Goswami. The temple is also deeply connected to A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who lived and worked here for several years before going to the West to spread the Hare Krishna movement.

The Radha Damodar Temple was established in 1542 CE by Jiva Goswami, the most prolific scholar among the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan. The presiding deity — Radha Damodar — was given to Jiva Goswami by his uncle Rupa Goswami. The temple became the intellectual and spiritual headquarters of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition in Vrindavan — a place where the philosophy, theology and devotional practices of the tradition were systematized through Jiva Goswami's extensive writings.
The temple is closely associated with A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who resided here for several years in the 1950s and 1960s. It was at Radha Damodar Temple that Prabhupada began his translation of the Srimad Bhagavatam — the work that would eventually carry the message of Krishna to the entire world. His rooms are preserved as a shrine within the temple complex. The samadhis of Rupa Goswami, Jiva Goswami and other important Vaishnava saints within the complex make it one of the most sacred spots in Vrindavan for devotees of the Gaudiya tradition.
