The ISKCON Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir in Vrindavan was built under the direct guidance of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada — the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). The temple was inaugurated on 29 April 1975 and became one of Prabhupada's most cherished projects. He specifically chose Vrindavan for this temple due to its supreme spiritual significance as the land of Krishna's childhood pastimes.
Prabhupada himself resided at this temple during his final years and passed away here in November 1977. His samadhi — a beautiful memorial shrine — is located within the temple complex and is one of the most revered spots for ISKCON devotees worldwide. The temple has grown into a major international pilgrimage destination attracting devotees from over 100 countries.
