Arrive in Mathura and check in to your hotel or dharamshala. After freshening up begin your Braj pilgrimage at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi — the most sacred site in all of Braj and the believed exact birthplace of Lord Krishna. The temple complex includes the main Katra Keshav Dev shrine and a large prayer hall filled with a deeply devotional morning atmosphere. After Janmabhoomi, proceed to the iconic Dwarkadhish Temple known for its beautifully painted ceilings, ornate stone architecture and vibrant temple aarti. Allow around 45 minutes at each temple for a comfortable and calm darshan experience.
After Dwarkadhish Temple take a peaceful walk to Vishram Ghat on the banks of the holy Yamuna river where Krishna is believed to have rested after defeating Kansa. The riverside atmosphere here is serene and spiritually calming. After lunch, drive to Vrindavan which is approximately 15 kilometres from Mathura. Begin your Vrindavan darshan at the legendary Banke Bihari Temple — one of the most spiritually charged temples in all of India. The unique swinging curtain darshan style here is unlike any other temple experience in Braj. Please note that cameras and mobile phones are strictly not permitted inside Banke Bihari Temple.
After Banke Bihari visit the ancient Radha Raman Temple which carries a deeply intimate and peaceful devotional atmosphere. Then visit the mystical Nidhivan — the sacred forest in Vrindavan believed to be the nightly site of Krishna's Raas Leela. The resident guide here shares the fascinating legends connected to this extraordinary place. End your first day with the evening Yamuna aarti at Keshi Ghat where oil lamps, chanting and temple bells create a profoundly spiritual riverside experience. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After breakfast visit the grand ISKCON Vrindavan temple, officially known as the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir. The white marble complex features beautiful deity darshan, energetic morning aarti and a deeply peaceful and well-maintained atmosphere. After ISKCON, proceed to the magnificent Prem Mandir — a grand white marble temple with intricate carvings of Krishna leelas across every surface. The temple is beautiful at any time of day but plan to return here in the evening if your schedule allows to witness the spectacular coloured light illumination after sunset.
After lunch drive to Govardhan which is approximately 25 kilometres from Mathura. Govardhan Hill is one of the most sacred sites in the entire Braj region and is deeply revered as the hill Lord Krishna lifted on his little finger to shelter the people of Braj from Indra's storm. Perform the Govardhan Parikrama — the sacred circumambulation around the base of the hill — as per your comfort and capacity. The full parikrama is approximately 21 kilometres but shorter partial parikramas are also common. Visit Mansi Ganga, the sacred kund at the base of Govardhan associated with the story of Krishna, along with the beautiful Govardhan temple complex.
After the Govardhan parikrama visit Radha Kund and Shyam Kund — two of the most sacred water bodies in the entire Braj Bhoomi region. These kunds are especially revered by Vaishnava devotees and carry a deeply meditative and spiritually charged atmosphere. Nearby, visit the magnificent Kusum Sarovar — a beautifully restored stepped reservoir surrounded by ornate cenotaphs and considered one of the most picturesque and historically significant spots in the Govardhan area. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest after a full and rewarding second day.
After breakfast and hotel checkout drive to Barsana which is approximately 45 kilometres from Mathura. Barsana is traditionally considered the birthplace of Shri Radha Rani and the famous Radha Rani Temple — also known as Lad Li Ji Temple — sits atop a prominent hill dominating the town skyline. The climb to the temple involves a flight of steps but the darshan at the top and the panoramic views of the Braj countryside make the effort deeply rewarding. The temple atmosphere is vibrant and devotional especially during morning aarti hours. Allow 60 to 75 minutes for the complete visit including the climb, darshan and descent.
After returning from Barsana you may spend the remaining time in Mathura for any remaining local sightseeing, temple visits or shopping for prasad, Mathura peda and religious souvenirs at the local bazaar near Vishram Ghat and Holi Gate. Your driver will then drop you comfortably at Mathura railway station, bus stand or any preferred location. If you have arranged pickup from Delhi or Agra the return journey will begin from here.
