Begin your sacred journey in Mathura and Vrindavan, then ascend to the Himalayas for the divine Char Dham Yatra — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. This extended spiritual package combines the warmth of Braj devotion with the grandeur of the Himalayan dhams in one extraordinary pilgrimage.
The Char Dham Spiritual Extension Tour is the most ambitious and complete pilgrimage package we offer. It is designed for devoted pilgrims who want to cover both the sacred plains of Braj Bhoomi and the four holiest shrines of the Himalayas — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath — in one continuous journey. Starting from Mathura and Vrindavan, the tour passes through Haridwar and Rishikesh before ascending into the Uttarakhand mountains. Each Char Dham site is visited with adequate time for darshan, rest and spiritual absorption, making this a fulfilling once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Arrive in Mathura and check in to your hotel. After freshening up begin your Braj darshan at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi — the believed exact birthplace of Lord Krishna — followed by the iconic Dwarkadhish Temple with its vibrant morning aarti. In the evening attend the Yamuna aarti at Vishram Ghat — one of the most spiritually moving riverside rituals in all of Mathura. The warm and devotional atmosphere of Mathura sets the perfect spiritual tone for this grand 15-day pilgrimage that will take you from the Braj plains all the way to the Himalayan dhams. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After breakfast drive to Vrindavan for darshan at the legendary Banke Bihari Temple — one of the most spiritually charged temples in India. After Banke Bihari visit the ancient Radha Raman Temple and the mystical Nidhivan sacred forest. In the afternoon visit ISKCON Vrindavan for the aarti followed by the magnificent Prem Mandir — stay until after sunset for the spectacular evening illumination of the white marble complex. Drive to Govardhan for darshan at Mansi Ganga and Radha Kund before returning to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After an early breakfast check out and drive to Haridwar — approximately 220 kilometres from Mathura and around 4 to 5 hours by cab. This drive marks the transition from the sacred plains of Braj to the Himalayan foothills. Arrive in Haridwar and check in to hotel. Visit Mansa Devi Temple by cable car for hilltop darshan and panoramic views of the Ganga. In the evening attend the world-famous Har Ki Pauri Ganga aarti — the most anticipated spiritual experience of Haridwar — before returning to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After breakfast drive to Rishikesh, approximately 25 kilometres from Haridwar. Visit Triveni Ghat, Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula and the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple area for the Rishikesh spiritual circuit. Rishikesh serves as the gateway to the Char Dham Yatra and this day also allows time for completing any Char Dham registration formalities, permits and preparation for the mountain journey ahead. Return to hotel in Haridwar or stay overnight in Rishikesh for an early departure to Yamunotri the following morning.
Depart early for Barkot — the base camp for Yamunotri Dham — approximately 170 kilometres from Rishikesh and around 6 to 7 hours through spectacular mountain roads. Check in to hotel in Barkot. In the afternoon if time and energy permit begin the journey toward Janki Chatti — the starting point of the Yamunotri trek — for an early start the next morning. Alternatively rest in Barkot and prepare for the trek ahead.
Depart early from Barkot to Janki Chatti, approximately 45 kilometres away. From Janki Chatti begin the 6-kilometre trek to Yamunotri Temple at an altitude of 3,291 metres. The trek passes through dense alpine forests, mountain streams and breathtaking Himalayan scenery. At the top visit Surya Kund — the natural hot water spring where pilgrims traditionally cook rice or potatoes wrapped in cloth as prasad — before the darshan at Yamunotri Temple, the abode of Goddess Yamuna. Trek back to Janki Chatti and drive to Barkot for overnight rest. Those preferring to avoid the trek can arrange pony or palanquin services.
After breakfast drive from Barkot to Uttarkashi — approximately 100 kilometres and around 4 hours through mountain roads. From Uttarkashi continue to Gangotri Dham — approximately 100 kilometres further and another 3 to 4 hours. Gangotri Temple sits at 3,100 metres on the banks of the Bhagirathi river — the origin of Mother Ganga — surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. Attend the afternoon aarti at Gangotri Temple and take a holy dip in the sacred icy Bhagirathi before returning to Uttarkashi for overnight rest.
After breakfast drive from Uttarkashi toward Guptkashi — the base camp for Kedarnath Dham. The route passes back through Rishikesh and Rudraprayag before ascending to Guptkashi. This is a long drive of approximately 280 kilometres and around 8 to 9 hours through the Garhwal mountain roads. Arrive in Guptkashi and check in to hotel for dinner and overnight rest. Attend the Triyuginarayan Temple or Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Guptkashi if time permits before resting for the important Kedarnath journey the following day.
Depart early from Guptkashi to Sonprayag and then to Gaurikund — the base of the Kedarnath trek. From Gaurikund begin the 18-kilometre trek to Kedarnath Temple at 3,583 metres or take the helicopter service from Phata or Sersi for a quicker ascent. Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines and is considered the most sacred of all Shiva temples. Obtain a darshan token and attend the morning or afternoon aarti at the ancient stone temple surrounded by snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at Kedarnath or return to Guptkashi depending on your preference and energy.
After completing Kedarnath darshan and aarti begin the descent from Kedarnath to Gaurikund and then drive toward Badrinath via Joshimath — approximately 200 kilometres and around 6 to 8 hours through the Garhwal mountains. The route passes through Rudraprayag, Chamoli and the scenic Alaknanda river valley. Arrive in Joshimath or Badrinath and check in to your hotel. Attend the evening aarti at Badrinath Temple if you arrive in time. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest in preparation for the main Badrinath darshan the following morning.
Begin the day with an early morning dip in the Tapt Kund hot spring adjacent to the Badrinath Temple — considered highly auspicious before darshan. Attend the Abhishek puja and morning aarti at the magnificent Badrinath Temple — the most sacred abode of Lord Vishnu and the last of the four Char Dhams. The beautifully painted temple facade set against the backdrop of the Neelkanth Peak is one of the most breathtaking sights in all of the Himalayas. After darshan visit Mana Village — the last Indian village before the Tibet border — and see the Vyasa Cave and Bhim Pul natural rock bridge. Return to hotel for dinner and rest.
After a final morning prayer at Badrinath begin the long drive back to Rishikesh — approximately 300 kilometres and around 8 to 10 hours through the Garhwal mountain roads passing through Joshimath, Chamoli and Rudraprayag. The return journey through the same spectacular mountain scenery feels different after the profoundly transformative experience of the Char Dham Yatra. Arrive in Rishikesh and check in to hotel. A final quiet evening walk along the Ganga at Triveni Ghat is the perfect way to close this extraordinary Himalayan pilgrimage. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After breakfast spend the morning in Rishikesh for any remaining temple visits, ashram walks or time by the sacred Ganga. Drive back to Haridwar in the afternoon and check in to hotel. This day serves as a restful transition between the intense mountain pilgrimage and the return journey home. Attend the Har Ki Pauri evening aarti one final time if you wish — a fitting and deeply moving spiritual conclusion to a journey that began at Krishna's birthplace in Mathura and ascended to the four sacred dhams of the Himalayas. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After a comfortable breakfast begin the drive back toward Mathura or Delhi — approximately 220 to 270 kilometres from Haridwar and around 4 to 5 hours. This final drive gives you time to reflect on the extraordinary 15-day pilgrimage just completed — from the warmth and devotion of Braj Bhoomi to the grandeur and power of the four Himalayan dhams. Your driver will drop you comfortably at Mathura railway station, Delhi airport, or any preferred location as your journey home begins.
This concludes your Char Dham Spiritual Extension Tour — 15 days of sacred travel covering Mathura, Vrindavan, Govardhan, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. From the divine flute of Lord Krishna in Braj to the eternal silence of the snow-capped Himalayan shrines — this pilgrimage is truly a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual experience that transforms the soul. Your driver will ensure a comfortable and safe return to your home city completing this extraordinary journey of devotion.
