Day 2 – Afternoon

Banke Bihari Temple & Govind Dev Ji Darshan

After the ISKCON morning programme visit the legendary Banke Bihari Temple — on Janmashtami day the temple is especially magnificently decorated and the darshan carries an intensity that is unique to this festival. Note that crowds will be very large so follow your guide's instructions for efficient darshan. After Banke Bihari visit the historic Govind Dev Ji Temple — one of the oldest temples in Vrindavan — where the Janmashtami decorations in the red sandstone complex create a beautifully traditional festival atmosphere. Rest at hotel in the early evening to prepare for the midnight celebration.

Day 2 – Night

Midnight Janmashtami Celebration

This is the spiritual centrepiece of the entire tour. At midnight — the exact believed time of Lord Krishna's birth — temples across Vrindavan erupt with conch shells, bells, kirtan and jubilation. Attend the midnight celebration at Banke Bihari Temple where the curtains open at the stroke of midnight to reveal the specially decorated deity. The ISKCON midnight abhishek is equally spectacular with a grand ceremony, kirtan and collective celebration. Day 3 – Morning

Mathura – Krishna Janmabhoomi & Dwarkadhish Temple

After a restful morning following the midnight celebrations drive to Mathura, approximately 15 kilometres away. Visit Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi — the believed exact birthplace of Lord Krishna — where the post-Janmashtami atmosphere still carries a powerful devotional energy with special decorations and a celebratory mood. After Janmabhoomi visit the iconic Dwarkadhish Temple with its beautifully painted ceilings and ornate architecture for the morning darshan and aarti. Allow adequate time at each temple for a calm and unhurried experience.

Day 3 – Afternoon

Return Journey

After completing your Mathura darshan enjoy a relaxed lunch before your return journey begins.
