Depart from Delhi in the early morning for Mathura, approximately 145 kilometres and around 2.5 to 3 hours by road. On arrival check in to your hotel and begin the Mathura darshan with the most sacred stop of the Braj circuit — Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, the believed exact birthplace of Lord Krishna. The temple complex carries a profoundly devotional morning atmosphere filled with chanting, incense and steady streams of pilgrims from across India. After Janmabhoomi visit the iconic Dwarkadhish Temple with its beautifully painted ceilings and vibrant aarti. Allow 45 to 60 minutes at each temple for an unhurried darshan.
After lunch drive to Vrindavan, approximately 15 kilometres from Mathura. Begin with the legendary Banke Bihari Temple — one of the most spiritually charged temples in India where the unique swinging curtain darshan style creates an experience unlike any other in Braj. Note that cameras and mobile phones are not permitted inside. After Banke Bihari visit the ancient Radha Raman Temple with its self-manifested deity and serene atmosphere, and the mystical Nidhivan — the sacred forest believed to be the nightly site of Krishna's Raas Leela with extraordinary legends shared by the resident guide.
The evening in Vrindavan offers two unmissable experiences. Visit the magnificent Prem Mandir after sunset to witness the spectacular coloured light illumination transforming the entire white marble complex — one of the most visually stunning sights in all of Braj. After Prem Mandir proceed to Keshi Ghat for the Yamuna aarti where oil lamps, conch shells and temple bells create a deeply moving atmosphere on the sacred riverside. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest to prepare for the Ayodhya journey the following day.
After an early breakfast begin the drive from Mathura to Ayodhya — approximately 325 kilometres and around 5 to 6 hours. Check in to your hotel and proceed directly to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex for the most significant darshan of the Ayodhya leg. The newly built Ram Mandir stands magnificently at the believed exact birthplace of Lord Ram. The darshan carries an emotional depth and spiritual intensity that is unique to this sacred site. Allow 60 to 90 minutes for the complete Ram Janmabhoomi complex including the main temple, the corridor and the surrounding precinct.
After Ram Janmabhoomi visit the beautiful Kanak Bhavan — the golden palace temple of Ram and Sita — one of the most beloved and richly decorated temples in Ayodhya. Then visit the famous Hanuman Garhi Temple — the hilltop Hanuman shrine at the heart of Ayodhya believed to protect the entire city. The climb involves steps but the darshan and panoramic views from the top make it deeply rewarding. Additional temples in the Ayodhya circuit such as Nageshwarnath Temple and Tulsi Smarak Bhavan can also be covered based on available time.
End the Ayodhya day at Saryu Ghat for the evening aarti on the banks of the holy Saryu River — a deeply moving riverside ceremony with oil lamps, chanting and devotional music echoing across the sacred river intimately connected to the life and story of Lord Ram. The collective energy of devotees gathered on the Saryu ghats at dusk creates a profoundly spiritual and emotionally rich experience. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight rest.
After breakfast drive from Ayodhya to Prayagraj — approximately 160 kilometres and around 3 hours. Prayagraj holds a uniquely powerful position in Hindu pilgrimage as the site of the Triveni Sangam — the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the invisible Saraswati rivers. Take a boat to the exact point of confluence for a holy dip — believed to wash away sins accumulated across lifetimes and grant liberation. The experience of bathing at Sangam in an open boat on the confluence of three great rivers is deeply moving and unlike any other pilgrimage experience in India.
After the Sangam darshan visit the historic Allahabad Fort on the Yamuna bank — a massive Mughal fortress within which lies the Patalpuri Temple and the Akshayavat — the immortal banyan tree of Prayagraj that is itself a major pilgrimage spot. After the fort visit Anand Bhavan — the ancestral home of the Nehru-Gandhi family now converted into a national museum — for a glimpse into modern Indian history. Spend the late afternoon at the peaceful Sangam Ghat area for quiet reflection and Ganga darshan before the drive to Varanasi.
Drive from Prayagraj to Varanasi — approximately 120 kilometres and around 2.5 hours. Check in to your hotel and proceed to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple — one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the most sacred Shiva temple in India. The temple sits within the magnificently rebuilt Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor which has transformed the entire precinct into a grand devotional complex. The darshan carries a powerfully charged spiritual energy distinct from any other temple in India. After Kashi Vishwanath visit the nearby Kashi Annapurna Temple and Kaal Bhairav Temple.
After lunch visit Sarnath, approximately 10 kilometres from Varanasi — where the Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment at Bodh Gaya. The Dhamek Stupa, the Ashoka Pillar, the Sarnath Museum with the original Ashoka Lion Capital — India's national emblem — and the ancient Deer Park monastery ruins are all within the compact archaeological site. Allow 60 to 90 minutes. Return to Varanasi hotel for rest before the evening Ganga Aarti programme.
Begin the final day in Varanasi with an early morning boat ride on the holy Ganga — one of the most spiritually and visually extraordinary experiences in all of India. The Varanasi ghats at dawn with the rising sun, morning bathers, sadhus and the sounds of temple bells across the ancient riverfront create an atmosphere of timeless sacred beauty. The boat covers all major ghats including Assi Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat — the sacred cremation ghat that has burned continuously for thousands of years representing the Hindu belief in liberation through Kashi.
Attend the legendary Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat — one of the most visually spectacular and spiritually overwhelming rituals in India performed every evening by priests with large fire lamps, conch shells, flowers and perfectly choreographed devotional chanting. The reflection of the fire lamps in the Ganga and the collective energy of thousands of gathered devotees creates a profoundly moving spiritual experience. After the aarti your driver will begin the return journey to Delhi overnight or as per your travel plan.
